This molded guide directs the tool’s cooling/airflow and dust extraction path behind the fan housing, preventing debris from contacting the motor / fan and helping the dust-box suction work as intended. It’s supplied as the single fan-guide piece shown in parts diagram (item 25).
Fits models Makita BO3710 / BO3711 finishing sander , so check your sander’s parts diagram for the same item number to confirm fit.
Mounting note: the surrounding parts list shows the guide fastened near pan-head screws M4 × 20 (metric), so you’ll reinstall it with the original M4 hardware or equivalent metric fasteners.
