The BL1840 4.0Ah battery features Lithium-ion technology (Li-ion). Li-ion technology has revolutionised the power tool world, it is far superior to any other power tool battery type. Li-ion cells have no memory meaning they can be part charged. If used on a Makita fast charger (DC18RC, DC18RD) the BL1830 will charge fully in just 36 minutes. All Makita 18V batteries come with an LED indicator to check charge levels and are fully compatible with the Makita 'Star' technology. Makita Li-ion batteries have a cut out function to aid in the longevity of the batteries overall life, if the battery doesn't have enough power to complete the action it will automatically shut off to preserve it's cells.
